QUEZON CITY, Philippines — In a swift response to President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s call for urgent assistance, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), and the Quezon City local government joined forces to deliver relief to 2,000 families affected by a fire in Barangay Pinyahan last Friday.
The relief operation distributed 2,000 “Charitimba” buckets filled with food and essential supplies, along with modular tents for temporary shelter, at the Risen Garden in Quezon City Hall. PCSO General Manager Melquiades A. Robles, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte, and MMDA General Manager Nicolas Torre III (collated photos below) personally led the distribution.

The fire, which reached Task Force Bravo status, damaged homes along NIA Road, leaving many residents temporarily without shelter.
“Our teams worked closely with the local government to ensure help reached those who needed it most,” said PCSO GM Robles.
MMDA provided modular evacuation tents to offer temporary shelter while families begin the process of recovery.
Mayor Belmonte thanked President Marcos, PCSO, and MMDA for their quick response, highlighting the relief efforts as a vital lifeline for the affected families.
The aid reached 1,907 families evacuated to Flora Ylagan High School, Pinyahan Covered Court, San Isidro Labrador Parish, NIA Covered Court, Pinyahan Elementary School, NHA Balik-Probinsya Covered Court, and NAPOCOR.
