MANILA — The northeast monsoon or “amihan” will bring light rains to several parts of the Philippines, particularly in Northern Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Friday.

PAGASA said provinces expected to experience light rainfall include those in Cagayan Valley, along with Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Aurora, Quezon, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, and Catanduanes.

The rest of Luzon, as well as the Visayas, Caraga region, Zamboanga Peninsula, and Northern Mindanao, may see isolated light rains due to the monsoon.

Meanwhile, other parts of Mindanao may experience scattered rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized weather systems.

The weather bureau also warned of moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas over the northern and western sections of Northern Luzon and the eastern seaboard of the country.

Other areas are expected to have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Leanne Loreto said Tropical Depression Nuri was last monitored around 1,580 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

The cyclone is unlikely to enter PAR and is no longer affecting Philippine weather.
