MANILA – State weather bureau PAGASA on Monday said Tropical Depression Caloy could weaken into a remnant low before the day ends.
The agency noted that the weather disturbance is unlikely to directly affect the Philippines as it remains over the Philippine Sea and far from the country’s land areas.
As of 5 a.m., the center of Caloy was spotted about 530 kilometers east of Guiuan, Eastern Samar. It maintained maximum sustained winds of 45 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 55 kph.
No tropical cyclone wind signal has been issued nationwide.
Despite this, PAGASA warned of moderate sea conditions in several coastal waters, including the eastern seaboards of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, as well as portions of Pangasinan and Quezon province.
Fisherfolk and operators of small boats were advised to exercise caution and avoid venturing into rough waters when necessary.
