That is the practical weather message for Filipinos today and tomorrow as warm conditions combine with the possibility of rain showers and thunderstorms across several parts of the country.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is forecasting partly cloudy to cloudy skies today, Wednesday, September 16, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible in many areas.
Temperatures are expected to remain warm, with daytime highs generally reaching the low 30s Celsius.
For many communities, the weather could start with periods of sunshine before clouds gradually increase. Rain, however, may develop later in the day in areas where thunderstorms form.
Tomorrow, Thursday, September 17, is expected to bring a similar weather pattern.
PAGASA’s extended outlook indicates partly cloudy to cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms possible, while temperatures remain warm. Some areas may experience more frequent rainfall than others.
This means Filipinos planning to travel, work outdoors or attend events should prepare for sudden changes in conditions.
One moment may feel hot and sunny; the next could bring dark clouds, gusty winds and a heavy shower.
Commuters should therefore consider bringing umbrellas or raincoats even when leaving home under sunny skies. Motorists should also be prepared for wet roads and reduced visibility during heavier rain.

PAGASA’s broader outlook for September 16 to 18 says the southwest monsoon will affect western sections of Visayas and Mindanao, producing cloudy skies, scattered rains and thunderstorms in several areas. Bicol Region, Northern Samar and Quezon may also experience thunderstorms. Metro Manila and other parts of the country may see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, PAGASA’s extended city forecast confirms that warm conditions will persist through Thursday, with rain remaining a possibility.
For households, the next two days therefore call for a little preparation.
Charge mobile phones and power banks in case thunderstorms affect electricity service. Keep umbrellas accessible. Motorists should check road conditions before long trips, while those with outdoor plans should monitor the latest weather advisories.
The good news is that rain does not necessarily mean a complete washout. Some areas may still enjoy sunny or partly cloudy periods before showers arrive.
But one thing is clear: Wednesday and Thursday will not be days to completely ignore the sky.
The sun may come out, but the rain could be waiting just around the corner.
