MANILA – The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Sunday reported that three prevailing weather systems are still affecting large portions of the country.
In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said the shear line is causing cloudy conditions with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the Visayas, as well as Palawan, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, and Romblon.
Cloudy skies with intermittent rain showers are also expected over Caraga due to the influence of easterlies.
Meanwhile, the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, continues to bring cloudy weather and rainfall over Cagayan Valley, Aurora, Quezon, Marinduque, Oriental Mindoro, and the rest of the Bicol Region.
PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains associated with these systems could trigger flash floods or landslides in vulnerable areas.
Metro Manila and other parts of Luzon will experience cloudy skies with light rains brought by amihan, although no significant impact is anticipated.
The rest of Mindanao will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to easterlies, with localized flooding or landslides possible during intense thunderstorms.
Strong to gale-force northeast winds and rough to very rough seas are forecast over the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, as well as the Visayas. Other areas of Luzon and the Visayas will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters, while Mindanao will experience lighter winds and calmer seas.
