MANILA – Much of the country will remain under hot and humid conditions on Monday as easterlies continue to dominate, PAGASA said.

In its early morning advisory, the weather bureau noted that Sorsogon, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Southern Leyte, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte may expect cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms brought by these winds.

Metro Manila and other areas nationwide will likely experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also linked to the easterlies.

The heat index is projected to peak at 45°C in Dumangas, Iloilo, and Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

Other areas forecast to reach dangerous heat levels include Sangley Point, Cavite (44°C); Guiuan, Eastern Samar (43°C); Iloilo City (43°C); La Granja in La Carlota, Negros Occidental (43°C); and several locations at 42°C, including Iba, Zambales; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa; and Cuyo in Palawan.

Across the archipelago, winds will be light to moderate coming from the east to northeast, while coastal waters will remain slight to moderate.
