MANILA – The Philippine weather bureau is monitoring a low-pressure area expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) within the next 24 hours.
According to PAGASA weather specialist Veronica Torres, the LPA currently positioned near the boundary has minimal chances of becoming a tropical cyclone.
Another weather disturbance remains outside PAR but is forecast to move into the monitoring area by the weekend. This system is being closely watched as it has a higher likelihood of intensifying into a tropical depression shortly after entering PAR.
Across the country, easterlies will continue to prevail, bringing generally partly cloudy to cloudy skies and isolated rain showers.
Zamboanga Peninsula and Palawan may experience scattered rains and thunderstorms, with the possibility of flash floods and landslides during heavier rainfall.
Elsewhere, localized thunderstorms are expected.
Northern Luzon will face moderate to strong winds and rough sea conditions, while other regions will have calmer winds and coastal waters.
Temperatures are expected to rise significantly, reaching up to 38°C in Tuguegarao and 35°C in Metro Manila. The heat index may soar to 44°C in Dagupan City and Mambusao, while Metro Manila could experience 38°C to 39°C.
