MANILA — Fourteen uniformed and government agencies will come together for the inaugural Philippine Uniformed Services As One (PUSO) tournament, which seeks to promote teamwork, sportsmanship and camaraderie among the nation’s public servants.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) formally introduced the event Thursday at the PSC House in the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Malate.
Slated for Nov. 14 to 28 in venues across the National Capital Region, the competition will feature 21 sports, ranging from basketball, football and volleyball to athletics, boxing, swimming, martial arts, chess, golf, tennis and target shooting.
Joining the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force and Philippine Navy are the Philippine National Police, Philippine Coast Guard, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Bureau of Customs, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, Bureau of Corrections, Bureau of Immigration, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and Philippine Military Academy.
Organizers said the tournament is intended to showcase athletic excellence while building stronger bonds among uniformed personnel and government workers.
“This is a perfect collaboration,” PSC chairman John Patrick Gregorio said during the launch.
