MANILA — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has formally enacted the ₱6.793-trillion national budget for 2026 after signing the General Appropriations Act earlier this week.

The President said the newly signed budget supports the administration’s medium- and long-term development agenda and prioritizes programs that directly benefit Filipinos.

“With the enactment of the General Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2026, we reaffirm our commitment to a people-centered budget,” Marcos said.

He added that the spending plan will strengthen government initiatives in education, healthcare, food security, social protection, and employment generation.

Consistent with constitutional requirements, education received the largest share of the budget, with allocations exceeding ₱1.34 trillion.

Funding will go toward hiring more teaching and non-teaching personnel, upgrading teacher ranks, and accelerating the construction of public school classrooms nationwide.
