MANILA – Several weather systems are affecting the country, bringing cloudy skies and rainfall, particularly across large parts of Luzon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Sunday.
A shear line is impacting eastern sections of Northern and Central Luzon, causing cloudy skies and scattered rains. PAGASA warned of possible flash floods and landslides, especially in areas experiencing moderate to heavy rainfall.
In its 4 a.m. bulletin, the agency said the shear line is affecting Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon, and Rizal, where moderate to occasionally heavy rains may occur.
The northeast monsoon, or amihan, continues to influence the rest of Northern Luzon, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains over the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the remaining parts of Cagayan Valley. No significant impacts are expected.
Meanwhile, easterly winds are affecting the rest of the country.
Western Visayas, Palawan, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms, with possible flash floods or landslides during periods of heavier rainfall.
Metro Manila and other parts of the country will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon or evening. PAGASA also warned of localized flooding during severe thunderstorms.
Moderate to strong winds are expected over Northern Luzon and the eastern sections of Central and Southern Luzon, as well as parts of the Visayas, with coastal waters ranging from moderate to rough.
PAGASA advised the public, especially those in flood- and landslide-prone areas, to stay alert and continue monitoring weather updates as conditions may change quickly.
