MANILA, Philippines — The state weather bureau on Tuesday said rains will continue over Mindanao and Palawan as the trough of a low-pressure area and the southwesterly windflow affect several regions.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rains and thunderstorms are expected in the Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, Soccsksargen, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Palawan.
The rest of Mindanao will also experience cloudy skies with rain showers brought by the trough of the low-pressure area.
PAGASA cautioned the public against possible flash floods and landslides due to moderate to heavy downpours.
As of 2 a.m. Tuesday, the LPA was estimated at 1,585 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao, still outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility. However, weather forecasters noted that it has a strong chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next day.
Other parts of the country may experience isolated rains caused by easterlies and localized thunderstorms.
Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate sea conditions will prevail nationwide, PAGASA said.
